I like this philosophy

"I believe that whole 2012 shit in a way that it's more like there will be the old people with closed minds and people who choose to open the door and move into the future and the world will not end, it will be led by people with open minds"

I went on my first run this morning and got completeleleleley lost! I was gone for almost two hours! Once I recognized where I was, I kept stopping at every bus stop and checking my progress on the little map provided.

I was wearing spandex shorts so my booty was très visible and when I rounded the corner of a little rue, a man saw me coming and said in a cute, but grimy French accent, "Jesus Christ!"

I think I was on the outskirts of Bordeaux Centre for some time. I saw some beautiful things, like this house with a front yard enclosed by a royal blue metal fence and just bursting with ivy and fleurs. I also saw the Gare de St. Jean...it was pretty dirty and industrial and grand.

It was a good run!

Facebook is down....

....so I may as well BLOG! I haven't written anything in awhile. I think I've been going through so many changes that writing about them has seemed daunting. I guess I should start.

I'm really getting my dose of city life from my summer in Beantown to a year in winey Bordeaux. I have been noting the similarities and differences and impressions I have. I was initially very surprised by the similarities of the two cities. Bordeaux is rather like Boston in the way of charm. Aesthetic of architecture and design seems to be important to Bostonians as well as Bordelians. At the same time, life is a little quieter, softer, bright and more relaxed here on little rue de Strasbourg. If you stand on some of the streets, even in Bordeaux Centre, there are moments in the afternoon when not a sound can be heard except perhaps a car in the distance or the radio trickling out from someone's open window.

I wonder what city is in my distant future.
