Day Thirteen

The other day, Eric took a few of us to see some ram heads from a recent hunt. At the same time, we ended up seeing a pair of elk skeletons whose antlers got caught together in a mating fight causing them to die intertwined. One of my fellow artists and I were struck by this and brilliantly decided to respond by spending twelve hours tied together. We spent the entire day with a scarf and a belt around our necks...from 9:40 a.m. to 9:40 p.m.

And here is a picture of the marvelous great sand dunes of Colorado. Spiritual.

  1. Hello Color Me Cameron,

It must have been quite interesting to be tied to someone for 12 hours. To be so close to someone in proximity tests even the strongest of people. There is something internal and eternal about space. As entities we spend life creating spaces for ourselves, in both physical forms such as our homes, but also in intangible forms such as our mind. Such an intrusion of this space can shake the foundation of our balance. That said, as you move into your the last week in Colorado, reflect upon the space that you have created there and how you have utilized it. Your space in Colorado has allowed you creative and intellectual freedom, and an immersion with the simplistic beauty of natural space. Spaces are different, as much as you might want to recreate the creative and intellectual space in Colorado, the space you will return to will not be the same.

  2. Wow...that started off so well and ended on such a negative note. You could have atleast said that the space I will return to will have its own beauty and mystery to discover. Ha ha!

  3. Hello Color Me Cameron,

On the contrary, I don't think that my tone in the end was negative. There is nothing inherently negative about difference. My meaning is that all space is unique in its own way, and that it will be difficult to recreate the space you have created in Colorado. I know that the space you will return to has its own beautiful mysteries. And that space also includes people that miss you very dearly.
